The Nativity scene in Žižkov shows the scenery of Žižkov from the first half of the 20th century. It is unique in that the figures, in addition to biblical figures, also represent Žižkov natives and local personalities, both real and fictional. The Nativity scene pays tribute to the "founders" of Žižkov, who contributed to the district's promotion to city status in 1881, to the important artists and writers who spent a significant part of their lives here or remembered their residence in their works.
The new figure of Přemysl Pitter will thus be placed in the Nativity scene alongside famous personalities such as T. G. Masaryk, Karel Hartig, Toyen, Olga Havlová (Šplíchalová), Jaroslav Ježek, Jaroslav Hašek, Švejk, Jára Cimrman or Pepík of Žižkov with hottie.
The author of the Žižkov Nativity scene is the artist Richard Pešek in collaboration with students of the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts on Žižkov Square. The Nativity scene is on exhibition from 2nd December at the Infocentrum Praha 3, Milešovská 1, Prague 3.
