The help that Přemysl Pitter provided for decades without exception to all who needed it was rightfully appreciated. For the post-war effort to save Jewish children, he gained official recognition of the Israeli government in the 1960s. For the rescue of Jewish children, he received the honor of Yad Vashem - The Righteous Among the Nations in Jerusalem. Olga Fierzová was honored several years later. Since 1964, a tree named P. Pitter was placed at Yad Vashem. As well as Olga Fierzová has own tree with her name.
The Federal Republic of Germany also expressed appreciation to P. Pitter for the help of interned German children. In 1973, he received the Grand Cross 1st class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, he was awarded with an honorary doctorate of Theology of the University of Zurich.
In 1991, president Václav Havel gave to P. Pitter the Order of Thomas Garrigue Masaryk III. Class in memoriam for outstanding merits for democracy and human rights.
