Stolpersteine were laid in the memory of Margit and Jiří Becks

On 4 September 2020 a laying of the Stolpersteine and a commemorative ceremony was held in Prague, Klimentská Street 3, in the memory of Margit and Jiří Becks, the co-workers of Přemysl Pitter. Margit Becková, neé Langová, was a music teacher and volunteer co-worker in the Milíč-House, the childcare facility for the children from the poor families in Žižkov. Together with her husband Jiří Beck they taught children from the Milíč-House the love of music, they supported them financially, too. On 26 October 1942, the Becks were deported from Prague to Łódź Ghetto with Transport C. They were murdered in Chelmno in 1942.

The laying of the Stolpersteine initiated The National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius with financial support of the Foundation of P. Pitter and O. Fierz. Organization of depositing new stones provides a Publicly Beneficial Association Supporting Persons Affected by Holocaust.

In the ceremony there took part contemporary witness Blanka Sedláčková, Ambassador of the State of Israel Daniel Meron, Mayor of Prague 1 Petr Hejma, director of NPMK Markéta Pánková, Katrin Bock from the Cultural Department of the German Embassy and representatives of the Foundation of P. Pitter and O. Fierz.
