Life Anniversary of Blanka Sedláčková

On January 25, Mrs. Blanka Sedláčková celebrates her 95th birthday. Blanka Sedláčková spent her childhood in Žižkov and as a child she attended the Milíč-House. She worked as a volunteer nurse during the Prague Uprising from 5 to 9 May 1945. After the end of World War II, she joined the volunteers who took care of children returning from concentration and internment camps as part of the "operation castles". Then she worked as an educator at the Milíč-House. After being forced to leave the Milíč-House in 1951, she devoted her life to working with children. Since 1989, she was finally able to become actively involved in promoting the legacy of P. Pitter and O. Fierz, which had been banned until then. She was an active member Foundation of the P. Pitter and O. Fierz. For her lifelong work as an educator, she was inscribed in the Book of Honour of Prague 3 (2014) and awarded the J. A. Comenius Medal (2021).

We wish Mrs. Blanka Sedláčková all the best and good health in the years to come!
